He knows the right strategy for each horse he rides and how to get the best out of his mount. The jockey who rode Mine the Bird said that Calvin told him the best way to ride the horse, but Calvin was just a little better today, though if the race had been a furlong longer, it might have been different!

Mine That Bird is also a great horse, and Musket Man showed his mettle. Loved it, and Calvin Borel - should he win the Belmont - might be Sportsman of the Year for SI!

9. She's a beauty. When I read about her win in the Oaks, I had wished that they her run

in the Derby instead. :)

I loved it when the handicap maven called her a man above the boys in the race and how he called her freak!
