At what point would the Democrats have said "NO" ?
If torture was not enough to shock their conscience, what would have jarred their emotions enough to disagree with the White House?

If the White House had decided to set off a "dirty bomb" in the middle of one of our cities so they could blame it on the terrorists, would the Democratic leaders have spoken up? I wonder?

Since they were sworn to secrecy, if the White House and the CIA had decided to blow up our own troops in Baghdad with a truck bomb and informed the Congressional leaders about it, would anyone have spoken up? I wonder?

If Cheney and Bush had decided to make mass arrests of American citizens, mostly those against the war, would our Democratic Leaders have spoken up? I wonder?

1. I doubt it.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have very little in the way of actual courage when it comes to such things. They'd rather play nice and play fucking political games instead of doing right by the American people.

2. Those are all good questions.
Ideally, I'd like to say that at least a few Democrats would have raised hell publicly.

But I think that most of our party would have sat on their hands and done nothing, and I think they would have also done their best to silence the few who shouted.

The equally big question is whether the media would have listened to those few and covered it, so that we could get enough public outrage to do anything about it. If the media silenced the few who protested and raised hell then what good would it have done?

With most democrats remaining silent, and the media keeping the news silent, we'd be left in the dark to silently put up with whatever the government chose to do to us.

:(

5. Just curious...?
At what point do you the Democratic leaders would have spoken up? Can you think of a scenario that would have shocked them enough?

7. Why?
I believe in the democratic party's ideals, even if I don't think the politicians represent those ideals very well.

Your post sounds like another thinly veiled "love it or leave it" post. :eyes:

There is no way I'm leaving this party to those of you who are so complacent that you love the corruption that is running rampant.

The party can be better. It can live up to its ideals. And if we can make that happen it will because of members like me, not complacent ones.

3. If enough of them thought they would lose their seats
Sad, but true.

6. If Pelosi knew, which is highly doubtful at this point
given the history of CIA disinformation and the way Democrats were treated when they were the minority, it would have been illegal for her to say anything.

Remember, she didn't order it, she didn't carry it out, and she had no way at all to stop it.

She wasn't even able to tell us about it.

Remember, WE KNEW, TOO.

8. Since when is it illegal to report a crime against humanity??
Because you are sworn to secrecy in an intelligence committee forbids you to break your vow of silence? I feel a lot better now!

9. What good would it have done?
Remember, the story was already out on the net.

The World Court, which Stupid removed us from, requires proof, not secondhand data from an agency famous for lying about everything to Congress.

However, considering the esteem in which Democratic members of Congress were held during the GOP majority, I sincerely doubt anyone told her a thing about it.
