Period. They want to make her the scapegoat. Big Men who commit hideous crimes like to make a woman the scapegoat if they can find a convenient one. Pelosi is a convenient one.

1. Agree
I think she's lying her ass off right now. But shes just a distraction, if she needs to be prosecuted she is way down on the list of people on the pecking order.

4. Anyone who thinks Bush LIED, LIED, LIED, but told Pelosi the truth is a frikkin' idiot!
I believe Nancy Peklosi, our fearless leader!

I do not believe Porter Goss, who lied to Congress already!
Will Porter Goss be prosecuted for lying to Congress?

12. Definitely. We have bigger criminal fish to fry. But she's being made the scapegoat...
...same as Martha Stewart was, and many others. Madoff, even. Go after someone insignificant in the realm of bigger crimes committed and make a big theatrical public production out of it to distract from the worst criminals - so they can get off scot free, and beat their chests all self-righteous and stuff to boot.

2. Completely agree with you. We are being distracted by the real criminals.
This country should first prosecute the leader who ordered the torture. In a few years when he and his pals are rotting in jail then the media can tell me all about whether or not Pelosi knew anything. Right now it is totally irrelevant because she would have been dead before she got away with telling on them back in the day.

13. I'm not sure there was much she could have done anyway. Even if she's lying now..
...I think her options were limited regardless re: briefings.

3. It's even worse than that
They tortured in order to obtain false confessions that would support a Saddam Hussein/al Queda link. They tortured us into war and kept torturing to keep the lie alive.

5. I know. And they're chewing on Pelosi to make theater so we'll forget
and/or be distracted. Most sheeple will be, too - most people rely on "teevee news" for their info. They won't bother to find out the truth.

7. I truly hope Pelosi is taking notes and learning some things about
being used by the people she protected so adamantly at the expense of her reputation with the American people. I believe she can be a formidable enemy after she recovers from all the knife wounds in her back.

Maybe she'll have some sort of epiphany...

8. I cannot understand how we let ourselves get into this position
The right wing, with much assistance from the Main $tream Media, have created this image where Nancy Pelosi is guilty of a heinous crime, and needs to be punished and made an example of.

How did this happen? It was the Bush Administration that illegally conducted torture on prisoners. The only thing Speaker Pelosi did was forget just what briefings she went to six years ago.

The people who are guilty of crimes are given a pass while a busy, hard working Democrat gets burned at the stake for not correctly remembering an event from the past that was among thousands of other important events.

We have let the stupid Republicans carry this to the top of the news cycle for over two weeks. The Republicans have no power. They are impotent in Congress. We control the House of Representatives, we control the Senate, and we control the Executive Branch. A person would think we could also control the news cycle and keep the real criminals at the fore front, not the Speaker of the House - who has committed no crime.

These repukes need to be taught a lesson about this. We should grant them no compromise over any bills before Congress. The reich wing only wants to hurt the Democratic Party, obstruct our administration of the Government, and poison any legislation through amendment that will benefit the American people. The Republicans are working to the detriment of the United States for the purpose of political gain for the Republicans.

The Republicans need to be sidelined in Congress and locked out of the legislative process before the can do any more damage.

10. I have NEVER understood the Democrats' collective refusal to take control of the national..
...conversation. Are they just that ignorant of the tactics being used against them? Timid?

I KNOW the lame$tream media is complicit in "catapulting the Republican propaganda" anyway but it seems like Dems are doing f*ck all (nothing) to defend one of their own who is being roasted like a pig on a spit when it is the people roasting her that committed the heinous crimes.

:wtf:

16. The Reppigs Control the Conversation Because They Own All the Microphones

WHERE are the Democrats going to hold a "national conversation"?

The Repiglickins OWN every broadcast network and every cable channel on the TV.
They own every radio channel except Pacifica and Air America and a handful of college stations.
They own almost every newspaper.

9. What Pelosi did or didn't know is irrelevant, legally
Congress has no executive authority, period. Treatment of detainees is wholly an executive branch function.

11. Exactly. It's irrelevant. But the Pigshits and their lame$tream media are having...
...a field day shaping public opinion and distracting from their crimes with it.

To them, the word "legally" means nothing.

15. Corporatist media theory appeals to ignorance, fear, anger, etc.
What the facts or law on a issue may be are totally of no concern. Thus the completely absurd "debate" on the "torture issue."

This as if there are two sides to every issue, such as the two sides to the "murder issue" and two sides to the "rape issue."

Opinions are like feelings, and feelings are like assholes, everyone has one. Feelings are what guide the corporatist, statist, rethuglican message. Sadism is an okay message. Sadists require their masochists. Pelosi fits the bill perfectly. That is her role. I'm sure pscychologists at the CIA and from Madison ave planned this. It is classic fascist crowd psychology at work.
