5. IMO anything over 20 years was a death sentence for him, though I |
|
agree with it. Unfortunately, I don't know how much of a deterrent it will be for other greedy people!

17. My mother disagrees with this. |
|
She says that now taxpayers have to foot the bill to put him in prison.
If she had her way, Madoff would be put in a halfway house and made to do community service for the rest of his life.

all your freedoms FOREVER! If you get hungry, you can't go get a snack. If you really long for a certain thing for dinner, you'll never be able to get it again. IF, and it's a big if, your cell has a window, and the day it beautiful outside, you can't just go out for a walk. This guy liveed in the lap of luxury for years, and now EVERYTHING is gone!
Besides that, just what in the world would a 71 yo ex-rich bt'd do as community service?

6. Now, tell us why the SEC let this happen. |
|
And start convicting those who told the SEC to stand down.

9. What we should take from this is greater powers to watchdog agencies... |
|
But you know that will never happen...

Unless and until we get to the bottom of the reasons I have to assume it was a scheme by BushCo to take out as many Jews as possible. I can't think of any other reason they allowed a known and proven ponzi scheme to continue.

13. That $2 million isn't going to go far when she has to hire a team of lawyers. |
|
They are still investigating her.
She was the bookeeper for decades while her husband was running this scam.
There's more to come here, I think.

14. 2 Million For Someone Used To Billions? |
|
I have little pity for the Madoffs and I hope there's a grand jury quietly meeting with her name on the big envelopes. That said, taking all they have and leaving her two million isn't leaving much. She'll need every penny to pay for her own lawyers and that money will go quick.

That even though you may be 40/50/whatever, you'll be likely looking at a life sentence?
