National HealthCare Co-opted By A Co-Op: That's The Rug You Feel Being Pulled From Under Your Feet.
The Insurance Corporations and Big Pharmacy have cooked up a doozey that is sucking Democrats right into their plan to kill the Public Health Option: A National Health Care Co-Op. And who would run the National Health Co-Op? Why the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical corporations with a few purchased politicians to give it an "official seal of approval" with the public.

So our hopes, our struggles for a national health-care public option --- a competitive government-run option for the public --- has been co-opted with a co-op card trick at the last moment.

The Co-0p is to Co-opt the true public plan.

Co-opt: to commandeer, to appropriate or take over.

That's the rug being pulled out from under your feet.

3. You got to hand it to the big corporations: they know how to protect themselves.
And they know how to purchase Democrats in Congress.

4. Indeed.
And, as always, betrayal by Democrats is always the greater treachery.

Democrats like Dianne Feinstein who cheerled for Bush's War in Iraq nd for the Patriot Act are now cozying up with their masters once again to deliver a Republican Victory in Congress.

Yes, a Republican Victory.

For if there is a Co-Op plan rather than the public plan option, then the Republicans won with the help of co-operative Democrats.

I like how you say "NO DEAL". We'd best all get our megaphones out because this is the rat that they've pulled out at the last moment.

Agreed: NO DEAL!

5. I say no deal too
Especially if it means taxing health care benefits. Tax our benefits to give money to insurance companies? That's an outrage!

Obama isn't fighting nearly hard enough.

7. No deal!
This was a pretty smart trick they've pulled out just as Congress goes home: the Co-Op.

What a racket.

9. Thanks. "No Public Option? No Deal!"
I like that.

The clever bastards will now try to pitch the "co-op" as a close cousin to the public option...which, of course, it is not. It's a sell out intended to let corporate Democrats appear to be "fair-minded".

They pulled this shit just as Congress was leaving.

We need to sink this co-op shit now.
