Help with Clean Energy Bill
I was just talking to my sister, the Republican, and she said the Clean Energy Bill has requirements for homeowners to replace appliances, windows, heating and cooling systems with energy efficient ones before they can sell a home.

That sounds pretty unreal to me and I haven't found anything on the Internet about it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

1. I haven't read the bill,
but has anyone. If that's in there, I have a BIG problem with it.

I'm trying to read the bill but half of it is legalese that I don't understand.

5. You haven't read the bill? Neither has anyone in Congress. LOL!
yes, it's true, and energy efficient appliances will make your bills go up.
It's a BAD bill.

3. That sounds like bullshit

I googled it and didn't find anything quickly. Republicans--the party of fear. I'm going to look some more.

On edit, I'm not happy with the bill. It does too little and not soon enough.

4. I think it sounds like bullshit as well
but I'm not finding anything to refute what she heard. She probably heard it from Rush.

6. Get the text of the bill
Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 06:17 PM by texastoast
Put it in your word processing program and search for key words. I can't believe that would have passed. Please post if you find out anything.

One other thing, post this in Environment/Energy. There are some folks over there who likely will be better prepared to respond.

7. Thanks. I will post it
in the Environment/Energy.

I used a search function and all I could find was text about a new building code taking effect in 2014 but nothing about existing homes.
