stupid question on the energy bill |
|
for some strange reason i had limpballs on yesterday and he and a lemming were railing against something in the energy bill about having to get all energy efficient appliance and making your house energy efficient before you are able to sell it. i have looked around for something on this and found nothing.
can some one point me in the right direction.
thanks.

1. If Limpdick said it, you can assume it's a baldfaced LIE. |

2. The government cannot force you to replace all of your appliances. |
|
It's just a smart thing to replace them with energy efficient ones. You may be ahead money wise not to wait until an appliance dies a natural death. An old furnace may be an example.

This is the text of H.R. 2454: American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. (DIAL-UP WARNING: This is a PDF file that is over 2MB in size): http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h2454eh.txt.pdfThe relevant material is, I believe, on page 421.

basically it says that if you build a new home, there will be standards for energy efficiency. not when you are selling your home. i guess if you are a rw'er you are suppose to leave your brain at the door.

6. This is remarkably similar to another post on the EE forum |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=115x200193"I was just talking to my sister, the Republican, and she said the Clean Energy Bill has requirements for homeowners to replace appliances, windows, heating and cooling systems with energy efficient ones before they can sell a home.
That sounds pretty unreal to me and I haven't found anything on the Internet about it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks."
