Shaha Riza, linked romantically with bank President Paul Wolfowitz, got some curiously hefty raises upon being detailed to work at the State Department -- but remaining on the bank's payroll...

Before these bumps up, Riza had been earning $132,660. She's now paid $193,590.(That is net pay)...

Foreign Policy magazine's editors opined that "given Wolfowitz's crusade to fight corruption in countries that receive Bank aid, doesn't it seem a little hypocritical to hand your girlfriend inordinate bonuses?"

He's brought in bunch of GOP operatives to implement the RW agenda at the World Bank. He's also still involved in what's going on in Iraq. He'll run roughshod over the place then leave into the open arms of his neocon protectors. Someone else will have to clean up the mess. It's what they do.

*snicker* the "giving your girlfriend a raise" seems to be a popular subject line in my junk e-mail folder.

Since we're talking about Wolfowitz though, I guess the concept of throwing more money at a woman makes more sense than a viagra reference. As for this Shaha Riza woman, I think she gives real prostitutes a bad name but with a $60,930 raise, she probably doesn't care.
