Office of Special Plans violated Logan Act
It's a mistake for RW'ers to bring up the Logan Act, here's why:

Because for one, Pelosi didn't violate it AND it looks like agents of the Bush Administration themselves may have violated it on several occasions.

Text of the Logan Act:

"Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects."

In 2003, members of the Office of Special Plans, Larry Franklin and Harold Rhode, went to talk to arms dealer Manucher Ghorbanifar to undermine a deal between the US and Iran. That is definitely a violation of the Logan Act right there.

1. It figures.
The shadow projection of the RW is completely and stunningly blinding.

2. Notice that this reads "without authority of the United States" NOT the "authority of the President"

3. What about Reagan's people negotiating with Iran during
the hostage crisis. You hold them until after we defeat Jimmy Carter - then let them go.

The whole lot should have been thrown in jail. Reagan, Casey, Bush I, etc.

5. I doubt they violated anything. Look at this phrase:
without authority of the United States

I seriously doubt they went "without authority", and even if they did, Shrub would simply say he okayed the trip.

I'm sure Nancy didn't violate the Logan Act either, andtherwers really should stop fishing for stuff that just isn't there!

6. That is unless the Office of Special Plans is considered under the purview
of the executive branch.
