David Letterman made Palin resign - CNN
No 'bombshell' drove Palin resignation, lawyer says
Lawyer: David Letterman's jokes contributed to her decision to step down
From Drew Griffin and Kathleen Johnston
CNN Special Investigations Unit

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- No legal "bombshell" or personal scandal lies behind Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's resignation, but off-color jokes by talk-show host David Letterman contributed to her decision to step down, Palin's attorney said Monday.

16. Wow. What. The. Fuck. Just consider all the hateful crap that has been spewed re Obama and his wife
by the various freepers and by Palin herself, basically called a terrorist, that he should be KILLED, Michelle called an ape, gorilla etc. and I don't seem to recall our President rising to the bait publicly on any of this to give it oxygen.

Ditto for Hillary Clinton, who has endured almost two decades of endless abuse from the entire right, including high profile broadcast media like Rush Limbaugh, people talking disparagingly about her body, her daughter etc.

And Miss Thing folds over a stupid Letterman joke?

It is to laugh.

Plus, she never had to accept the VP nod anyway and could have left her whole trashy brood out of all of this.

what did she intend to do halfway thru her stint as v.p...? she ran for the job, after all.

and what would have happened had she GOT the job, and then mcnuts had a fatal infarction or something one year in?

her chances of winning another political office outside the reddest of red states is slim and none. and slim just left town.

Sarah Bailin' will surely cause all kinds of trouble in the years ahead, but all of it will be the fault of Caribou Barbie. Dave is a comedian, and he generally does his job well...

34. How does that idiot going on a speaking tour cost "us" exactly?
Let the GOP waste their money supporting that waste of space.

Letterman is funny as hell and very smart. Sarah is neither, but she's cute and apparently that was the only qualification the GOP was looking for. Her nomination says a lot about the GOP's attitude towards women...and none of it is good.

31. Palin made a career out of playing the victim and it finally backfired on her
Even her "base" wasn't too moved by her victimization appeal. You can only play that card so many times before even your most ardent supporters get tired of that shit. She was never more than a one trick pony, and every time anyone called bullshit on her she pissed and moaned that people were just picking on her. When her one trick played out, she sure as hell couldn't rely on anything else.

also because this looks like one last cheap shot from a small person who knows she needed to distort his joke to make her younger daughter the victim.

She is selling out before her price drops any lower. She always wanted to be on TV and tried to get there by being a sports announcer. It seems she was not good enough to land that job so she went into politics. Now she can go back to her firs love and be the female Glenn Beck.

Letterman had no more to do with it than anyone else did.

71. This is a plot. She will now don her Fox Microphone, to even things up!
She will sell the house at a break even, to attempt to cloak herself in a whitewaterish , We lost money on that deal thingie. She knows that she was out of her depth, and is going to do the hate speech to rile the base thing full time, while not outBecking the Fox crew sith insane schizophrenic point ot point conciousness streams. Like her last duzzy. She is fantastic at getting all her points in non-sequitor style, rapidfire. It will function as Orwells hatehour did. And for the same reasons. She will become unable to answer critics directly. Then her rant is not dissected in a way that makes her look silly. She can spew Rushian drivel. And it will be a stump speech that she modifies for each hater candidate. And so the epically failed Teabaggerparties will live on as Palin campaign hate crowd incitement. It is her strength. Can anyone deny that? She is not stupid. She is FUCKING EVIL, but not stupid. There is no job fit for her now but rude pundit. She is a pariah.

73. Go Dave!
He should make a Top 10 list for reasons Palin resigned.

74. wtf does she think would happen if she got into higher office?
She'd pass laws so no one could criticize the Dear Leader?

77. So she thinks criticism and being the butt of jokes is going to stop
if she pursues any other public office, or chases a high profile job? She doesn't have the temperament to be in a public position.

79. That's a pretty good article.
She is really working this resignation to gain the sympathy and support of her base, playing the victim to the mean and sexually inappropriate old comedian who dared to insult her daughter and the honor of all young girls everywhere, and the lying, vicious, jealous bloggers. The media accommodates her need for attention, and because they're incurious, they don't tell the whole story about WHY there have been so many ethics complaints. It would seem that since the personnel board deciding the ethics matters is comprised of at-will executive appointees, there might conceivably be some pressure to rule in the governor's favor. Especially given that the governor is prone to firing people.
