A dirty secret...Deleware has made billions through their lax tax laws on large corporations and large banks. Cheap taxes to that state is what oil is to Alaska or corn to Iowa. No surprise the Senators from that state (including Biden) were in the pockets of these groups...it's what paid for their elections and throw a lot of weight around on state and local matters.
No excuse here...just trying to square it...and the problem that having a large majority presents. Virtually every controversial issue President Obama tries to tackle...especially in regards to the economy...is gonna upset someone's applecart that will exert pressures on Senators who are more obsessed ith getting the $5 to 10 million to run for election (that the banks and others gladly write the checks for) than to fight those that feather than nest for the national good. As long as their money speaks louder than our voices, good bets they're gonna win.
