Judge Bennett said that Monday's ruling was based in part on the financial resources of the church. Financial records submitted to the court indicate that Fred Phelps, the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church, and his daughters Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebekah Phelps-Davis have a combined net worth of under $1 million. They are seeking to delay payment of the judgment.

glad i am not there. they had a story on locally about a woman who got tickets and had a very short window to get there. her father paid for her plane ticket out, and she had like 20 minutes to get to the staples center to claim her tickets. so her father was paying for a ticket for her to be not sure if she would even get a ticket.. oye. she did end up getting there in time though, i guess. all i could think is how insane is this whole thing!!

Then everybody could just do whatever they wanted to. Like the serial killer in South Carolina, Jeffery Dahmer, Ted Bundy, the unabomber or Eric Rudolph. Let's try living in a country without any police or law enforcement of any kind. Most people wouldn't last very long.
And if the LA police do start "crackin' skulls", how can you be sure it isn't warranted? There will almost certainly be some thugs in attendance, who will be trying to start trouble. So what will the LAPD be expected to do in a case like that? "Ah well, let's just sit back and let the criminals do whatever they want. We can't bust heads because DUers don't want us to." That ain't gonna happen.
True story. Many years ago, a friend of mine got real drunk on tequila and was raising hell at a local bar. He was asked to leave and when he didn't, the cops were called. My friend is a big guy and tried like hell to fight them. It took 4 cops to wrestle him into the squad car because of his size and fight. He was all P.O.ed about it until he realized he was wrong to begin with. Now what else were the cops supposed to do in a situation like that? One guy. Multiply that by hundreds or thousands of people. Maintaining order is an absolute neccessity, especially in a large crowd like that.
