Yaaas, all those boys who get the people's charters and constitutions modified so they can stay in office (might as well be: ) INDEFINITELY bestow kindness by their all powerful, royal grace.

BLOOMBERG TAKING IT EASY ON THOMPSON

THERE'LL be no mud-slinging in this year's mayoral race. With Michael Bloomberg's re-election all but assured, his likely opponent, City Comptroller Bill Thompson, is headed for a crushing defeat. But Thompson is already looking beyond City Hall. Insiders say his plan is to achieve wider name recognition in the mayoral race and then to run against State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli next year. This is why Bloomberg has handled Thompson with kid gloves -- make that sacrificial-lamb gloves -- unlike the way he ruthlessly chased Rep. Anthony Weiner, a much stronger candidate, out of the race. Sources speculate Bloomberg might even endorse Thompson over DiNapoli.

THE PROBLEM WITH A DISCLAIMER is its coming off as defensive, especially when it's preemptive. Trouble is, it's damned if do/don't: NOT including it first results in the predictable problems.

DISCLAIMER re: linking to the NY Post (for to head-off highly predictable, OT/hijacking posts):: Yes, it is a RAG. Yes, it is owned by NewsCorp/Faux's MURDOCH. No, he doesn't Dictaphone content to his gossip columnists. No, "gossip" does NOT equate to "UNtruth" (OR with "triviality" for that matter). These old time gossipers are more journalistically reliable than Tweety and such ilk. Frequently, political tidbits are here first, later to show up in more "respectable" venues. Keep friends close, enemies closer. Cherrypicking intel results in self-fulfilling FALSENESS. I got hooked on these gossipers when they were on the
E!1 network and, when they were cancelled, tracked them down and they happened to be at THE RAG (NY Post). ALL I read at THE RAG are the gossip and the horoscope. On Edit: If this disclaimer is NOT ENOUGH, if you don't like this o.p., PLEASE just click OUT without leaving your any-further-a(doo-doo)!1

3. Yes. I wish that had been done in a more orderly fashion.
I've never believed in term limits for prez, etc.

Though I am starting to think that we need them for the House of Reprobates because it was Constitutionally designed to encourage turnover and now it practically never turns over. The system is bass ackwards.

5. Never agreed with term limits for legislative bodies, although incumbency too easy, but mayor, etc,
becomes centralized power and abused.

4. Bloomberg, his policies and media glow not what they seem and really destructive.
Despite calm veneer, he arrogantly pulls levers of power to which we all move and only he allows. Not to the great benefit of our economic well-being, either.

For those of us in politics, where there was once a sense of participating in our own decisions and outcomes, I feel like it's an emotionless coup. Sorry, but his outlay of $80 million each campaign, extending term limits not by will of the people, are not for altruistic reasons.

Even Working Ffamilies Party, always pragmatic and never entirely pure, something I could defend (even sitting in endorsement meetings), has become another self-serving instrument in search of vote share and just as corrupted, machine politics. By manuevering along with party leader Vito Lopez, and Bloomberg, who they always criticized, this time it's not for the public good or better bigger picture.

6. Thank you. You said what I sensed, with more knowledge than I have
For me, as soon as they start changing the rules, it doesn't matter whether they have good intentions or not, it's a RED FLAG.
