They hate that, and believe that if there is such a problem, it will lead to more government regulation and even world government.
The threat of world government is scary and real to them. It is why they hate the U.N. too.

7. Funny how 'they' only hate "B.G" as it pertains to loss of profits, and aid via social safety nets |

12. They hate it because of white privilege |
|
They are used to being the top of the hill and have everything in life be easy.
If a world government comes then there will be problems for them in that they will actually have to work for a living.
I was once asked if I thought blacks were lazy and I replied that I didn't know about that but that I did know that white folks once went all the way to Africa so they wouldn't have to work.

1. The pollution of giant corporations that they kow-tow to.
2. Irrational fear of anything smacking of "one-world" solutions...as if we didn't all live on one planet.

directly in their face and they can't accept it.
You ask "What are they scared of?"
I think it's themselves, and they'll do anything to turn attention and responsibility to anyone but them and those who think like them.
It's okay to say it's natural Earth cycles that are causing changes, but to take responsibility for something? Nah, they can't do that.
Edit for typo

And amazingly you are referring to members of the party of responsibility. They are so clever with labels.

- Conservatives believe that man can do no wrong. (At least white men who live in America and work for corporations.)
- those proposing that there is climate change caused by man are evil, hateful liberals and since they are conservatives there is no way they can agree. This is part of their training. I do chuckle when conservatives trapse out tens of thousands of "scientists" from conservative stink tanks to question the science currently studied.
Two very sad and pathetic answers to your question but I believe there is a great deal of truth to them. Similarly, do they know anything about sarah palin other then she is a "conservative?" They have no need to know anything else to worship her.

It shows how stupid they really are because their lives depend on the very planet they seem to abhor.

8. They are afraid of one word -- Moderation |
|
If the climate problem and destruction of our ecosystem is linked to our consumption of resources and the pollution we cause as a result, then we have to do something about it. We cannot just solve the problem with new technology. It is going to take something the the Rich don't want to happen. We have to moderate our consumption and live more simply. An economy founded on acquisition of wealth through growth and continual sale or product relies on waste, which would slow down significantly if we were really serious about protecting the environment for the future. So to the greedy right wing, Moderation is bad. It is more lucrative to fight and deny that the climate is changing as a result of human activity.

9. All of the above. But also... |
|
...the religious ones believe God gave them the earth, along with the animal kingdom, to use and abuse as they see fit. It says so in the OT.
The really religious folk WANT to destroy the earth as quickly as possible in the hopes it will bring on the rapture.
For the rest of them, it's basically those listed by other posters thus far. Regulation, one-world conspiracy, blahda, yada. One person told me it was a conspiracy to wrest as much land away from individuals as possible for government control, and to put into place all kinds of regulations that will keep people from their right to achieving the American Dream/personal wealth.

as long as there's money to be made the way things are- great. change means that they might not understand the best way, nor positioned well to make a decent profit when it happens.

13. Just a quick question... |
|
I consider myself an "environmentalist" in that I care about keeping the Earth clean for future generations.
But when did the term "Global Warming" seem to morph into "Global Climate Change," and what was the reason behind that change in terminology?

14. Global warming actually means part of the earth will become frigidly cold. |
|
Part of it refers to the severe drought and flooding that will occur in certain parts of the world. The rethug drones think that "global warming" simply means the planet will get "hot" all over, as they can't grasp concepts that require more than a quick sound-bite. Some parts of the world have been afflicted by the cold weather aspects, and they can't wrap their lizard brains around why this is a result of warming in other places. So, it was renamed "global climate change." It's Global Warming for Dummies, basically.
