Is the Club for Growth in effect looking to help Joe Sestak in his primary battle against Specter? Maybe not, but they might do that if they start trying to draining Specter of his campaign funds. They probably figure that Sestak doesn't have the following or funds to win a state-wide battle. That's where DU, Moveon, etc. should step up and fill the gap, and make their strategy work against them...

WASHINGTON _ Although Chris Chocola isn’t in Congress anymore, he’s here in the fight for a Republican Congress - his brand of Republican.

Howey)Chocola, the Elkhart County Republican who represented Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District for two terms before losing to Democrat Joe Donnelly in 2006, now is president of the Club for Growth, a conservative group that targets Republicans it regards as too wishy-washy moderate on taxation and government expansion.
He is in the fight for the soul of the GOP. “I never thought I’d be doing the weekly commute again, raising funds again,” Chocola says during an interview in his Club for Growth office. It’s larger and plusher than his old congressional office.
“But I still have a great concern for what’s going on,” he says.
And he doesn’t like what’s going on - Republicans losing control of Congress and the White House and now wrangling in what Chocola calls a misleading “big tent versus purists” debate.
...
I used to do yardwork with Chocola when I was a neighbor of his in Michigan, and his uncle was also my dad's boss in the same neighborhood... His family had a black dog named "Onyx", which brings back memories of a certain film named "The Omen" from that time period... :)
It looks like the Club for Growth isn't stopping its efforts against Specter, even though he's pulled out of the Republican Party now and running in 2010 as a Democrat.
http://www.newsmax.com/politics/specter_toomey_race/2009/06/26/229289.htmlWe should be conscious of this group's efforts and make them work against themselves and get Sestak voted in as senator. No more "Lieberman-style" end arounds this time!! Let's really do a progressive overhaul here!
