It has been a part of the Black tradition for generations. Church, Christmas, Easter, weddings, funerals...a woman was NOT dressed without a hat.

When I lived in lived for a time near many black churches. I LOVED checking out the ladies in their sunday best. Beautiful hats and dresses.

A lot of Jewish women work the hats when they go to Temple too.

Those illusion cut-outs were perfect for a Hollywood-type funeral. They added just a bit of glam and style while the dress as a whole remained very tasteful and respectful.

Not everyone could carry off LaToya's hat--but she sure did!

Someone should have made Michael's older son get rid of that gum, though.

She was the one that filled out the paper work for the death certificate. She was the last one to leave the funeral home last night. She's also been very kind to the fans and press.
