SC is gonna tip over with gossip - Why She’s Fighting For Her Man(Jenny Sanford)
Last Friday, we wrote a story outlining how S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford was leading the fight to keep her embattled husband, Gov. Mark Sanford, from being run out of town on a rail in the wake of his admitted affair with Argentine lover Maria Belen Chapur.

We asserted at the time that Mrs. Sanford had initiated several private conversations with lawmakers and other opinion leaders in South Carolina, urging them to refrain from calling on her husband to resign.

Since then, we’ve heard from several additional sources who have spoken with Mrs. Sanford directly in the past few days - and all of them are confirming what we originally reported. Also, we’re hearing reports that Mrs. Sanford personally intervened last week with U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham - who was on the verge of calling for Sanford to step down.

Obviously, after refusing to “stand by her man” at his meandering confessional - and the “devil-may-care” comments she initially made about his political future - Mrs. Sanford is clearly back in the “pro-Mark” camp. In fact, we’re hearing that absent her advocacy, the tidal wave of calls for the governor’s resignation last week likely would have broken on top of him, forcing him to step down.

Knowing this, now we have to ask several relevant questions …

First - why is she all of a sudden fighting for her husband’s political survival? After all, isn’t she the person who’s been hurt the most by his lies and betrayals?

Also, isn’t it obvious that the Sanford family’s interests would be best served by the governor stepping down and focusing on reconciliation?

That seems like a no-brainer, doesn’t it?

That’s what we thought .. but wait till you find out the answers we’ve uncovered to these questions.

Stay tuned …

I'm staying tuned. I've been wondering what she is up to. Hope there is something to this.

2. I don't think the perks are that great.
And I doubt there will be much hobnobbing either.

4. Heaven forfend!
She's been doing that all along disguised as being polite and motherly. I kept waiting to see if there was something else. Maybe.

5. I've been saying for awhile now...
... that if Sanford leaves the governorship that marriage is over. From most reports, she has been a strongly driving force behind his political career. If he gives up the governorship, he is without a doubt giving up any chance he has for a national political career. She didn't marry him to become the wife of some behind the scenes character. She placed her bet that he would be a huge public figure. If he backs out, it will prove to her that she made the wrong bet.

6. She already knows she made the wrong bet.
His career in the forefront of GOP politics is over. Now she may want to take up the standard.

11. If he STAYS governor, he will be on a short leash, and under constant scrutiny
if he resigns or is booted out, he'd have no real reason to not just pack up his shit and move to Argentina, and then she would not be able to keep pulling hairs out of his nose:)

9. Try this on for size--Let's pretend they appear to get reconciled and
the GUV serves out the rest of his term uneventfully.

Let.s pretend he then bones up on foreign policy, gets onto
talk shows and exhibits expertise and knowledge. Guess where
I am going---perhaps Mrs Sanford has dreams of being the ultimate
first lady.

Background Note: When Limbaugh gave that moaning blurb--He could
have been our Kennedy.

Sanford is a good debater and quite knowledgeable. The conservatives
had dreams until Sanford escaped down Argentina way. He had a book
deal. Was this to get everywhere and open his campaign for POTUS.

Since he professed Love for his lover, you must admit this does
jnot sound as tawdry as a quick fix.

Did you notice not one of the RR uttered a peep.

Rehabilitation Rehabilitation Rehabilitation.

Pure Speculation but stranger things have happened.

13. Limbaugh's sufficiently low-minded....
that I'll bet by "our Kennedy" he just meant a married man who bangs lots of chicks on the side.

10. Maybe she figures she paid for the governorship and she
wants her full term. It's possible that with the end of the term, the 'irreconcilable differences' will become just too great for them to weather. Then, after a respectable two or three years, she'll purchase.....er......marry........ her next 'spouse' who will be primed for a national position.

It's as good as any other piece of speculation.

12. Off the top of my head
maybe she wants him back. To keep him from his "soul mate".

Second best revenge: if you can't be happy, why should HE be happy?

14. She wants to be a Senator.
But before that, she wants to be a First Lady.

If she divorces the Viagero from Argentina, that stuff will never happen.
