Honduran coup... I am freaked out |
|
I never thought that rooting for the success of a military coup would be an acceptable position for anyone in the U.S. "chattering class" to speak about out loud. But right-wing talk radio has been supporting the Honduran military. Whoa. The right is even crazier than I thought it was.

22. Seriously though, what's up with Latin America's elites? Why are they so stingy? |
|
Was having to pay their workers a little extra money enough of a burden to warrant a military coup? Bunch of greedy fucks.

12. The problem with broad brushes is that they are sloppy. |
|
Say, for example, an American president decides that he isn't leaving and is making himself president for life. Certainly Americans would be justified in rising up and deposing the president.
At any rate, I'll leave Honduran matters to the Hondurans. They're the ones that will be living under whomever eventually wins. Meddling often makes bad or volatile situations even worse.

But it flies over the heads of the big IQ's here (see IQ thread for the numbers). Ideology trumps all.

Really bad at explaining in 2 sentences or less their "critical thinking" skills.
When are you going to realize that people here can't read your mind?

17. Two points you are missing |
|
You said the AMERICAN PEOPLE... not the military
You do know that the referendum did not have Zelaya running or able to run.
I am proof positive you didn't. As to the Hondurans, interesting thing happened on the way to the forum... usually WE support this crap, any right wing coup is good for us. We haven't. Riddle me this, when was the last time the US Government was behind returning a lefty to power? Now here is more. THe left in LA, lets just say Zelaya is center left, for LatAm, but lefty here. He is mostly center, by the way.

elected government. So now all the right wing christians will be for it too. These people are nuts and are showing us just what contempt they have for democracy.

what Obama has done so far is so out of step with the HISTORIC NORM, aka OUR administration would be behind it too, it is not even funny.
In fact, perhaps this is the moment we might be able to date the end of Empire.
By the way, some here also support the coup... and others do not realize just how out of step with situation normal this is.

These were the same folks who thought the Argentinian military tossing pregnant women out of planes at 30,000 feet was just fine, so long as the women in question were "marxists."
