How long before the US bans creating sperm cells from stem cells? |
|
I mean we can't allow that kind of freedom, that's not what America stands for. :sarcasm:

1. Taking a different approach, |
|
what reason is there to create sperm cells from stem cells? Only for some sort of cloning-type purpose.
We will already see spread before our eyes in court soon the spectacle of what happens when a rich eccentric man can buy his dermatologist's sperm, an ovum from some still unknown woman, have them fertilize in-vitro, and implant them in a "rent-a-womb" that he sets up a sham marriage with in order to have the legal fiction that he is the "father" of the resulting offspring born from her body. I have zero doubts that if the technology were available, and he could find a doctor-whore, that Michael Jackson would have cloned himself. He may still have found some way to make that possible in the future.
Let's use stem cell research to cure disease, we sure don't have a shortage of available sperm in this country.

2. Research is a process- this will add to what we know and |
|
improve the scientists' ability to do what you want. You can't just go in a straight line since there are no simple solutions in life.

4. Sounds like the rationale that Joseph Mengele would have used |
|
to justify his 'experiments'.
Somewhere, pure science needs to be guided by ethics. Not mere superstition of religion, but by ethical principles that apply to all human beings, that recognize the dignity of human life.
