13. Not If You Write The Date In European Style...
Today is 8/7/09...next month would be your 7/8/09. Nonetheless, I will prepare for this moment like I do for when the comet strikes in 2012...not give much thought to it.

I can't remember what American checks look like, but why would putting a date on an American check be any different from on a British cheque?

30. because of the way we differ in writing dates
10/1/09 in the US OCT 1 2009
10/1/09 in the UK JAN 10 2009

My father was military and I learned the DAY/MONTH/YEAR variety. So to save myself the grief I simply write 8JUL09 for today...solves the problem!

53. Genealogists all pretty much do dates THIS way now:
8 Jul 2009. It's completely unambiguous. By keeping the month at 3 letters, it's quicker to type. And the 4 digit year is mandatory because your data spans centuries.

I don't know why I never switched to this at home/work, lol. My charts in the office are 7-8-09 format. As are any checks/letters I write.
