1. Depends on what sort of UHC you're talking about

If you're talking about single payer UHC, I would love to have that enacted.

However if you're talking about the current monstrosity moving through Congress, I'm not so sure. I have a bad feeling that we're going to wind up with the worst of two worlds, mandatory insurance and no public option (with taxes on health benefits thrown in for good measure). I certainly hope not, but given Obama's track record and his willingness to compromise for the sake of "bipartisanship" and the Dem's utter spinelessness, I think that this is a distinct possibility.

2. The reality is that they "think" they have health insurance.

If, God forbid, they have a catastrophic illness in their family they will learn the hard way just how evil the insurance companies can be.

5. that's exactly right. as long as all you are doing is going for your once yearly checkup

and the occasional flu, of course you would have no problems with your health insurance. but once you find a lump somewhere or have some serious medical problem, then that's when you'll truly find out how great your plan is.

4. they keep playing a local radio station host making comments about

waiting for obama's healthcare so he can go to target for dental care. i was disgusted. i wanted to call in and ask him if he HAD healthcare... because many people don't. and many have insufficient health insurance. It sure is easy to say shit when you aren't holding your breath and praying that that fever your kid has is nothing.
