Zardari: US to be Blamed for Talibanization of Af-Pak Region
Source: Times of India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari has blamed the US for Talibanization of the region. ‘‘Once the Soviets were defeated, the
Americans took the next bus out of town, leaving behind a political vacuum that ultimately led to the Talibanization and radicalization of Afghanistan, the birth of al-Qaida and the current jihadi insurrection in Pakistan.’’

‘‘The heroin mafia, which arose as a consequence of the efforts to implode the USSR, now takes in $5 billion a year, twice the budget of our army and police. This is the price Pakistan continues to pay,’’ wrote Zardari in an American daily.

It wasn’t evident whether Zardari was referring to the Taliban or terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir when he said that militants were nurtured by earlier governments.

3. I thought it was a pretty entertaining movie.
Plus it was only a little over an hour and a half. A quick watch if you've got other things to do.

4. Well, yes and no
He's right our proxy war screwed the place up royally. At the same time though, if madrassas weren't the only chance for education for the region's poor, it's not likely he'd have a Taliban problem today either. Feed and educate the worst off among you, it'll pay in the long run.
