Although I've been a DU member for some time, I think this is only the second time I've originated a thread. I hope it gets some response as I'm serious about bringing this topic to the attentions of the media.
What I'd like to hear/see is someone asking McCain the following question: Senator McCain, you stated repeatedly during your run for the office of president, that IF ELECTED - you'd advise the military how to find and capture Bin Laden. Since you weren't ultimately e;ected sir - are you still holding this information of extreme national security significance to yourself - or have you shared it with military chiefs who've already got Bin Laden cornered thanks to your secret plan?
I've written to several media outlets that we watch on a regular basis and we've never gotten so much as an acknowledgement of receipt.
McCain made no bones about HIS ability (as Commander-in-Chief) to capture the hero of terrorists everywhere. I think he ought to explain either WHY he'd hold out on sharing OR WHY his info (assuming he has shared it with the military) hasn't produced the results he PROMISED!

3. Someone needs to call him out on this |
|
I remember him saying "I know how to get bin Laden" more than once.
McCain is out there complaining about Obama but doesn't seem to be offering any solutions. If he knows how to get bin Laden he should get off his lazy ass and tell our military so we can get this over with and get out of there.
I suspect he was just talking out of his ass, though, and doesn't know how to get bin Laden any more than Sarah Baraquiter does. He does need to be pushed to admitting this.

So maybe he picked up a tip or two on how to do that.

10. i never took his comment as indicating that he had any pertinent INFORMATION |
|
the withholding of which would certainly constitute aid and comfort to the enemy.
instead, i took his comment as meaning he thought he knew what ACTIONS to take as president in order to effect a capture, namely, calling in the joint chiefs of staff and stomping up and down and screaming his beet red face off until they delivered bin laden's head on a stake.
it was content-free chest-thumping, nothing more.
ok, maybe he had some more specific ideas of what strategy the military should use, better known in republican circles as "second-guessing the military". but in any event, i saw no reason to think he had any actionable intelligence.
all presidential candidates make this sort of promise all the time, trying to predict the future and just hoping it comes true, e.g., suggesting that the economy will rebound or that we'll find wmds, or that we're all safe, or that my plan will help create this many jobs, and so on. there may be more or less reasoning behind it, but there's often a large element of wishful thinking..

I remember it differently. I remember him addressing a town hall style debate where he looked at the audience and told them that if HE was elected, we'd have Bin Laden in short order because HE KNEW how to make that happen.
Empty chest-thumping or not, someone needs to ask him, point blank, if he's shared this with the current administration. Since the Right is SO GOOD at parsing Obama's words, where's the "accountability" for the Right???

i certainly think we can score a few political points by pressing this theme, so don't let me stop you pushing it. but i don't think the story's got real legs. it's but it's good for a few news cycles so why not?

17. Well, I wasn't tryin' to be supremely righteous |
|
about the matter, But with every Right-Wing Mouth dissecting each and every word that left Obama's lips last year - why not pick what has to be ridiculous carrot-on-shtick BS by Obama's contender?
More to the point, my one little voice can't seem to sway the inspect-o-meter to McCain's BS promise. I was looking for tips on how to get some media interest.

11. This is a man who volunteered to drop bombs on babies... |
|
and never had a moment of regret. He tried to make a moron in a tight skirt the Vice President of the United States. He's a liar, a braggart, and a tiny little man who wants to go to war over any perceived insult.
As happy as I was that President Obama won the election...I was even happier that John McCain will never be the President of the United States.

18. Remember it was President Lyndon Johnson |

that ordered those babies be bombed. If Johnson had not ordered the bombing of Vietnam, McCain would not have had anyone to drop bombs on.

It was a self serving lie that he trotted out for the election. These guys are all "the end justifies the means" creeps.. so lying is considered legit...

He was lying his fucking ass off when he claimed that as president, he'd advise the military on how to find and capture Bin Laden. It was nothing more than campaign fluff, and the American people saw him for what he was - another rethug liar.

24. OK, maybe "traitor" was a bit too much, but |
|
liar isn't enough either. If he's holding back on info that would expedite the capture of Bin Laden (and as a consequence, possibly lessen the number of American lives lost), what IS the proper title to give someone like that?
Do I think he REALLY has such info? Not by a frog's hair! But his demented ass boasted that he holds such info. So LET'S SEE IT!
