If he had her sitting in a tub full of like, alcohol or whiskey or something... That must have been awfully uncomfortable for her.
Odds are it was a dilute that wasn't quite dilute enough or something. Alcohol baths aren't all that uncommon - they're supposed to help joint pain and reduce wear and tear on the skin from hot water.
Sounds like an honest accident to me, based just on what I know of it.

Any concentration of ethanol/methanol sufficient to go ablaze in a bath ???
The fumes from that kind of mix had to have been a BIG clue.
