Palin, please don't let it be this...
I thought evangelicals were getting less in number, then I find out that the one sect that is most dangerous is not only growing but is growing in our military because they are being recruited by top brass, from commanding officers to the Pentagon. In fact recruiting films were made for this sect by men in uniform at the Pentagon. And there is a Palin tie in. I give the links at the end of the piece.

For years I have followed the goings on of evangelicals from a distance. And there was one thing that Palin said today that frightened me to death. I must say I'm very tired of being afraid, even as I've read stories of how different branches "evolved" I really just wanted to forget about it... but I couldn't.
<snip>
The piece I came across was a link to a You Tube video. The man's name is Lou Engle and he is the founder of something called "The Call". The call is for people to martyr themselves for God. Right. It's an honor to die for God as long as you kill an infidel in the process. First there was an intro of a teen listening, then it cut to this man "blessing" Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee. Then it went on to show him preaching to these teens and near the end one had on a T shirt that said "IF I DIE, I DIE". I had to stop the frame to read it... last line on a black T shirt. (Link below).

I read a little about this particular sect. They are extreme racists. You can imagine who they want harmed (I can't even say it) and Lou Engle draws 40 to 80 thousand kids to an "event" where he calls for them to murder for God.

Then Sarah Palin resigned and I know that her church is part of this sect. So when she said she wanted to work "outside of government to do more" (not exact quote) I was more like, ugh, I refuse to think about this. It always makes me feel bad.

Then today I see a headline above a picture of her face on CNN. (The headline was on Politico I think). The headline said "IF I DIE, I DIE, SO BE IT". I was shocked that she used the exact quote that is the "mantra" of this sect that calls for murder. I hope it was a shout out to her followers and nothing more.

2. You do mean "The Call", as opposed to "The Flight Of The ConChords", right?

3. I'm pretty sure Bret & Jemaine don't like Palin...
Bret loves animals (as shown by many of his t-shirts) and Jemaine just follows whatever Bret does...;)

5. Didn't think so. It was just the combination of the caption and the photo
Although it would probably have gained Sarah votes if Bret and Jermaine sang at her rallies(so long as their fan didn't some along).

4. Yes, because in the history of recorded English,
whenever someone did something that others view as extremely foolhardy, no one has ever replied with a shrug and a "Well, if I die, I die."

Nope, it wasn't until this fundie sect adopted it as a defacto motto that this particular group of words was strung together.

While, yes, her affiliation with this group MAY be the reason she uttered this phrase, it is even more probable that she uttered a phrase she has heard in reference to other really stupid activities. Cause, one thing I am positive of, this is not the first really stupid, inexplicable thing Ms Palin has ever done, nor shall it be the last. In fact, this utterance may have been her response to stupid things she has done since before the inception of this fundie sect.

11. Actually....
....the quote is a reference to Queen Esther, whom the Fundies compared Palin to during the campaign:

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. - Esther 4:16 (King James Version)

There's very little chance that it was NOT a shout-out to her base.

6. Good call, grits...
ever seen the videos of her in her church? she's INTO it.

speaking in tongues, faith healing, snake handling, etc...

As soon she mentioned working "outside" the government i thought either a) working with secessionists or b) with racist end-timers or more likely c) both.

then history will not only condemn her and John McCain ,but it will infect the Republican party . That stain will not wash away easily.
