Autism Speaks paid for an ad on MSNBC showing how states |

and insurance companies discriminate against coverage for kids with autism. Terribly sad advertisement. I should know; we had to fight our insurance ocmpany 9 years ago. We didn't get anywhere, but my husband's comapny wrote a special rider to help get him some coverage for speech therapy. Of course, everytime my sone ST sent in a bill, they declined it for a year. It always took the head of benefits calling them to get it covered. She finally had to close her practice because only a few companies would pay her.
The one problem I have with the ad: it blamed Congress for the insurance companies' discrimination, and gave states credit for properly regulating them. Here in Texas, that would ever fly.
