Is there a good reason that every member of the Intelligence Committee |
|
Should not receive briefings from the CIA or whomever? There is a Democratic Sponsored bill to make it where all members get to recieve briefings and not just the Chair and Majority and Minority Leaders, and Obama says he will veto that bill. I don't understand. Is he suggesting members of Congress are not to be trusted with National Security issues and if that is the case why are they on such a committee in the first place?

1. Politicians have a bad reputation for keeping classified |

stuff classified i.e. Valery Plame. Both my parents held "Top Secret" clearances and my mother also had a "Q" level clearance. Of the many people I have known who carried these kind of clearances not one would ever divulge anything considered "sensitive" much less secret.
Even holding a Top Secret clearance does not automatically give a person the right to view any documents. It is strictly on a "Need to Know" basis and then "For Your Eyes Only."
So I'm sorry to say there are good reasons to keep those in the know to a minimum.
