1. It's a responsibility we may or may not grow into.

I used to know what the "cool kids" here on DU were up to.

If I saw that a thread was getting lots of recommendations, I knew that that was what the cool kids liked.

NOW THIS!

Just how in the world am I (and lots of others like me) supposed to know what the cool kids are doing?

If I see lots of recommendations, is it because the cool kids are doing the recommending?

If I see lots of unrecommendations, am I supposed to assume that the cool kids are doing the unrecommending?

How do I know which way to act? I want -- NEED -- to do what the cool kids are doing!

Please HELP ME.

Could all the cool kids here on DU please let the rest of us know what to do (recommend or unrecommend) on any given thread?

3. The power to knock something off the greatest page is more than the ability to rate things up

This gives too much power to groups to knock stories off the greatest page.

I know the greatest page isn't everything, but some of us only have time to pop in here every now and then and scan the hot topics each day.

I also know that groups can rate things up, but like I've said--this isn't as much power as the power to knock things down.

8. I would have suggested that the minimum number of recs for the Greatest Page be upped

from 5 votes to 10 or 12. That would reflect more of a majority and the trolls/disruptors would have a more difficult time getting recs for their ridiculous posts.

The DLC progressive haters will unrecommend many positive progressive threads. Your thread was on the greatest page, til others started unrecommending it. I think I'm going to take some time away from DU for a while and let things cool down. Then I'll see if this is even a community I want to be a part of anymore. :shrug:
