I'm seeing less deleted posts than usual... |

Is it possible that the unrec feature is decreasing the number of flamewars?
It used to be that if you saw a post you disagreed strongly with, you would hop in and take the OP to task. Now, you can just unrec them and move on.
Has anyone else noticed snark being replaced with <0s? Might be a good side effect.

1. That's a possible side-effect. Nothing but time will tell what sticks long-term, though. |

I'm unrecommending this thread to satisfy one of my very many pet peeves, if I can find the button.

Was hoping to comment before edit time was up, trying to be a "grammer crossing guard" before the "grammer nazis" showed up.
Less, fewer, smaller.... oy.

17. I agree. People like to be able to show disapproval. |

Contrary to the stated purpose, people here generally do not care whether something goes to the greatest page or not. They recommend threads they like to express agreement with, and they post to express displeasure with the thread. Now we can use the UNrecommend to express displeasure.

The tradeoff may be that spirited discussion, as a poster stated below, will be harder to come by. But I think there will still be enough political red meat to satisfy most people.

If the unrec function dampens that (at all), it's got to go.
