MSNBC in HD on DISH yay!!! |
|
Ok, it's been 2 days, I could have posted this before, but finally MSNBC is in HD on Dish.
I know MSNBC started last week in HD.
This should help compete with CNN and Fox, because when you have an HD TV (which is becoming more popular), you can't stand watching SD channels, as they look awful.

Channel 209? Mine is in HD... You may want to call them. Or maybe your system needs to be reset.
What decoder do you have?

doing an upsate now to see if that changes it. Iy may also be due to subscription levels.I can't get "speed" in HD either.
Looks like subscription level is the culprit.
I found the HD version clear up at 9511 and it is in RED on my guide.

2. I find HD a bit creepy. |

I don't want to see the pores in someone's face and the veins in their eyeballs, thanks.

Legend. It's not that high in definition. Even in Blu Ray in true HD (1080p) you don't have that level of definition. On top of that HD on sat TV is compressed and it's a bit lossy.
And if I follow your logic, I guess you never go to the movie theater?

6. Yes, it is that high-definition. |
|
1080p is equivalent to 1920x1080. Try looking at a close-up full-face digital photo taken at that resolution and tell me what you see.

5. How does everyone look? |

I suspect that some anchors/personalities don't take the transition well. (I'm looking at you, entire cast of Morning Joe.)

11. I fail to see how HD helps much with the types of shows that are on cable news |
|
It's people sitting at a desk talking politics. How is HD improving on the experience at all?
Sports and movies, I understand. But news shows? Political discussion shows?
Really... how would HD improve on one's experience when watching Meet the Press or Morning Joe? Seeing the sweat bubbles on Joe's forehead or the wrinkles around Mika's temples improves WHAT exactly?

12. It requires a specific subscription on my DISH. |
|
CNN, CNBC, even Fox are in the standard HD package.
We called customer service and asked why. The answer was "It just is."
Yeah. Not happy.

getting ready to talk to a supervisor. They know nothing...I am reading press releases from their own company to them.
Their press release says it was released July 8. :eyes:
They are telling me they don't see it. eeeekk
Okay, they have it, but not listed in any package, so they are looking for it. It is definitely in what I have as a package, just not listed.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=6032875&mesg_id=6032875On the phone almost an hour. It looks great in HD...which should have already been there. You need Classic Silver 200. Call if you don't have it yet for them to authorize the receiver.
