Stupid insensitive CNN reporter ask child who overheard racist comments |
|
at the swim club "Marcus, why does this make you cry?". Anyone else see this? This adorable articulate boy repeats the hateful remarks he heard at the Philly swim club he was booted from, and the jerk of a reporter noting that she sees tears in his eyes, asks why the hateful comments he heard made him cry.

1. yeah, never put it beyond a modern 'journalist' to ask the most obvious question possible |
|
"how do you feel about that" is a ridiculous question to ask the victim.

3. It gave the boy a voice |
|
It was insensitive and her motives were probably for ratings but at least he had a chance to be heard and if anyone was going to make an impact it would be one of the kids directly effected. In the future when he looks back he will know he took a stand and can be proud of it.
It reminds me of when parents don't want their children to testify in molestation cases - while it's difficult at least the child dealt with the jerk and can feel they confronted the issue.

4. There was absolutely no need to ask that question. The boy was quite |
|
articulate prior to her asking it. It was completely gratuitous and stupid.

10. I didn't see the segment |
|
I didn't know she was already talking to him, her motives were pretty clear but I still say his tears will make more of an impact than anything any adult could say.

5. If you hire propagandists, this is the only depth of investigation they |
|
understand. The propagandist probably want the boy to erupt in anger or say somehing that isn't clear or something that runs counter to the tears - providing food for O'Reilly et all to attack the boy.
Definitions of a propagandist: Not a journalist. Can make fools of themselves every day and not hold it against themselves.

6. this has nothing to do with propagandists. the reporter just wanted to milk |
|
all the pain she could out of the kid. If anything she was looking for ways to further excoriate the club, it's director and members- something I have no problem with. What I did have a problem with was her blatant exploitation of the child.
And no, the definition of a propagandist is not a journalist.
as for making a fool of oneself; congrats on that.

7. And you expected more out of CNN because? |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 07:54 AM by tularetom
They've been sticking microphones in the faces of victims of accidents, crimes, etc. since the days when they at least attempted to be a news purveyor rather than a video tabloid.

|
Is there any reason repugnant behavior shouldn't be called out?

11. Don't get mad, get even. Expose them as espousing Republican Values. |
|
I will bet you that if you obtained the membership list that it will reveal that the overwhelming majority of the club's members are Republicans. This could be a great expose of their family values further trashing these hypocrites. It could be worth a ton.

12. The bigger story is the comments that people made behind |

the story. I read every sickening one. We still have a long long way to go.
