Apparently IF you want to join those sites JUST to have good, solid political debates they will boot you soon as they realize you are a democrat.. I assume DU would not boot a republican long as they were semi polite and justed wanted to come here to debate their case.. I LOVE good political back and forth.. I have a few republican friends and we have a blast buying each other beers and tweaking each other.. It seems to me a real sign of a coward is not willing to even debate your views with those that disagree with you...

They usually stop posting of their own accord at some point, but reasonable Republicans seem to do okay here.
It's the radically right people who flame out.

And rightfully so. It's nice to have an board where I don't have to be engaged in endless debates with Republicans, even "semi-polite" ones.
FR is welcome to its echo chamber.

I've encountered several self-avowed rushpublican in my many years here and have seen my share of what I'll call "reformed" rushpublicans who have found a home here on DU.
As long as someone wants to have an open and honest discussion, I could care less what their politics are. It's when they start using talking points and here to troll, that's another story.

and sadly some here aren't interested in an open and honest discussion...but the merit and value is in the eye and computer of the beholder.
