Any time someone gets in a discussion about health care, |
|
the first thing they should ask those who are against it is if they have health care and who provides it. They should then ask if family members are covered AND if they know anybody who doesn't have health care or who has had problems with the coverage they have.
Then they should stay on the offensive and ask them if they have tried to find anyone who isn't covered and learn what the reason is. If they haven't done any of these things, then how do they know the impact of no health care? If they don't trust the people that are on TV, they should go find someone. It shouldn't be too hard.
If I knew who I was going to be discussing this issue with, I would look up facts about the area where they live. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz fried someone who was blabbing about the stimulus and jobs. She told him the unemployment rate for his area, and what jobs were possibly going there. I forgot what else she smacked him with, but he was reduced to stuttering.
I would go after them like a junkyard dog. Jane Hamsher chewed one tool up yesterday.

1. Like a junkyard rottweiler |

I've been uninsurable since 1987 and the effect has been to keep me in poverty, keep me in sheer terror much of the time, and to deny routine care which has undoubtedly shortened my life.
What happened to that stupid gargling harpy yesterday is mild compared to what I do to smug assholes who think they have nothing to worry about because they haven't gotten sick yet. I know our system from the inside out, having worked within it for most of my life--uninsured.

Warpy, I love that so much it's going to be my phrase of the week! Thank you.
And as another 'uninsurable', I agree with you 110%.

2. Another question to ask: |
|
If they say they "have" health care insurance, ask them if they've ever had to test it with a serious illness. Many of the people who are bankrupted by a health care crisis actually thought they had insurance to cover themselves...until it hit the fan.
