PO promo for sending "care packages" to military overseas |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 10:35 AM by Catshrink
The post office has a promotion during July. There's a special mailing rate for those in Wisconsin and Michigan -- I don't know why just those two states. But anyone can call and get a supply of packing materials delivered to you free. Here's the info from a family member living in WI:
"I found ourt from my Post Office that the promotion called, "Season's Greetings - Without the Snow" is just for Wisconsin and Michigan. But anyone can still order the military care kits. You can call: 800/610-8734 and request, "care kit o4". They will deliver the kits to your door free of charge. Limit 4 per order. Allow 7 to 10 days. Each kit contains several 'one rate' boxes (various sizes) as well as a very large roll of strapping tape. Also, includes mailing lables and custom labels."
Free tape! :woohoo:
edited to clear up some confusion.

1. If you want to send a package but don't have a relative... |
|
these folks will fix you up:
www.anysoldier.com
You can find a soldier by gender, country, branch, state, whatever.... they also have a lot of good information about how to ship packages, what to ship, etc.

2. more specific instructions so you don't get lost in options hell ... |
|
after dialing the 800 number, press 1 for english or 2 for spanish; then, press option 1 at your next prompt, and usually an actual customer service rep will come on the line .... AVOID ALL OTHER "OPTIONS" as those are guaranteed to spin you into options hell ...
BIG HAT TIP to you Catshrink ... just FINALLY put in my order limit of 4 ... we are in New Mexico and apparently it works here too - MATERIALS ARE FREE AND THEY WILL BE DELIVERED TO YOUR MAILING ADDRESS FREE OF CHARGE

3. Thanks for the phone options advice... |
|
I haven't called yet but my sister did. In Wisconsin and Michigan, there's also a special shipping price -- I guess I wasn't clear.
Do you send to relatives?
