OMG..Peggy Noonan on Palin: "In television interviews she was out of her depth in a shallow pool "
This is truly delicious.. Ronald Reagan's speechwriter is a RINO..

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124716984620819351.html

Sarah Palin's resignation gives Republicans a new opportunity to see her plain—to review the bidding, see her strengths, acknowledge her limits, and let go of her drama. It is an opportunity they should take. They mean to rebuild a great party. They need to do it on solid ground.

Her history does not need to be rehearsed at any length. Ten months ago she was embraced with friendliness by her party. The left and the media immediately overplayed their hand, with attacks on her children. The party rallied round, as a party should. She went on the trail a sensation but demonstrated in the ensuing months that she was not ready to go national and in fact never would be. She was hungry, loved politics, had charm and energy, loved walking onto the stage, waving and doing the stump speech. All good. But she was not thoughtful. She was a gifted retail politician who displayed the disadvantages of being born into a point of view (in her case a form of conservatism; elsewhere and in other circumstances, it could have been a form of liberalism) and swallowing it whole: She never learned how the other sides think, or why.

In television interviews she was out of her depth in a shallow pool. She was limited in her ability to explain and defend her positions, and sometimes in knowing them. She couldn't say what she read because she didn't read anything. She was utterly unconcerned by all this and seemed in fact rather proud of it: It was evidence of her authenticity. She experienced criticism as both partisan and cruel because she could see no truth in any of it. She wasn't thoughtful enough to know she wasn't thoughtful enough. Her presentation up to the end has been scattered, illogical, manipulative and self-referential to the point of self-reverence. "I'm not wired that way," "I'm not a quitter," "I'm standing up for our values." I'm, I'm, I'm.

In another age it might not have been terrible, but here and now it was actually rather horrifying.

McCain-Palin lost. Mrs. Palin has now stepped down, but she continues to poll high among some members of the Republican base, some of whom have taken to telling themselves Palin myths.

43. I can agree with Peggy Noonan on a few things
Although they are mostly on non-political issues.

She isn't stupid. She is well educated, intelligent, and very articulate. I certainly can't agree with her ideology, and she certainly has been known to defend her party to the point of absurdity. She isn't always a good judge of character either vis a vis her initial strong support of W and her perennial support of Raygun.

4. Make no mistake, Peggy Noonan isn't a RINO. She just knows a loser when she sees one.
And she wants the republicans to win. She sees Palin as an anchor and wants to cut her loose. That is all.

Hell, Reagan would be a RINO by the standards set by the likes of Vitter, Ensign and Stanford.

12. That's EXACTLY right - she sees Palin as an obstacle, not a boon.
The last thing a Republican candidate down the ticket wants to see right now is another Bushlike nominee leading the ticket.

40. Peggy, that pathetic reagan sap, will NEVER be a RINO. She's relentlessly republi-CON
straight down to the bone marrow. She still thinks the sun rises and sets on ronald reagan. I'm half-convinced she was reagan's Monica. To hear her speak about him and write about him, you'd think he was the second coming.

Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 12:26 PM by Mike Daniels
She thought the criticism directed about the kids was uncalled for but as Palin demonstrated her weaknesses Noonan gradually made her POV known that she was not impressed.

That said, what else was she supposed to do?

Nonnan is not a liberal (stating the obvious, I know), but she is very smart and writes well. This piece is a killer. And is's kind of nice to have one more very good reason to laugh at Palin (Lady Ga-Ga as Andy Sullivan calls her, love that) when she talks about the liberal media going after her. The uber-liberal WSJ and Peggy Noonan!

If there's one thing Palin WolfKiller understands, it's "mean-girl".
She's the epitome of mean, cruel and sadistic.
She remains the pretty, narcissistic girl in Junior High that will knife you in the back if you ever questioned her or were not one of her adoring fawning groupies.

32. Yep, that's why she's been called 'Sarah Barracuda'
since school.

"She ran around like a rabid little thing" (Cheryl) Welch recalled. "She did not like to lose and sometimes cried after losses. She was very petulant and formidable--there was no stopping her. We'd be practicing and drilling--she wanted the ball so badly she would get red in the face and scratch and claw until you just wanted to say, "Here, take the ball." When i heard they nicknamed her Sarah Barracuda after the way she played on the basketball court, I thought, "Wow, perfect."

31. she needs to look to her Party instead of the MSM for keeping the Palin story alive.
The GOP invites her to high profile events and to campaign for them; they're the ones excited about her ability to raise money for them. They're the ones defending her and fueling the fires every time she creates drama for herself.

To pretend that Sarah Palin and the kind of people she attracts isn't exactly what the GOP have been all about for the last 30+ years is laughable- She is the GOP mindset personified!

GeeDubya was the culmination of said mindset and Sarah Palin is the unadulterated version being played out for all to see.

Quit blaming the "MSM", you made your bed Noonan, deal with the consequences.

37. Unfortunately for the F*eekers, though
Peggy Noonan has actually amassed a body of work through her professional career -- speechwriter for Reagan, columnist for the WSJ, etcetera. I do not agree with her politics or most of her opinions, but she worked for her money. She also has the ear of the GOP establishment, which leads me to believe that the knives are out for Sarah Palin.

Palin's resume is thinner than rice paper. Her insistence in continuing a fight with Levi Johnston via media makes her look petty and ridiculous. Unfortunately, she's too stupid to realize it, and she's also too stupid to realize that the GOP is imploding. The only chance they have in 2012 is to run a fiscal conservative/social moderate, stop pandering to the religious right, and distance themselves from guys like Sanford, but they're also too stupid to figure this one out, too.

LMAO.
