I have a modest suggesting for tweaking "Unrec" |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 01:06 PM by HamdenRice
It's that basically any OP that is a "good" OP should be immune to unrec. Only bad or ambiguous OPs should be subject to unrec.
Once an OP has been determined to be "good" and on the "right side" politically, or have a political analysis that obviously is "objectively correct," that post should be immune from unrecs and being voted off the GP -- kind of like immunity in Survivor and Top Chef!

1. Like immunity in Survivor? |
|
Maybe if the thread eats bugs or something, eh?

3. You're not taking it far enough |
|
There should be a small group of "approved posters" and their posts should be made immune.
And if, by accident, a non-approved DUer writes a wildly popular post, that DUer's name will be removed and substituted with an acceptable replacement poster's name.
Let's keep this simple.

4. As I have said in a couple of other places ... |
|
I'd like a hottest topics page--one that ranks threads by the highest sum of recommends and unrecommends. That would display threads that were rich in controversy and discussion, ideas that push people's buttons (the ones that are actually worthy of discussion).
Such a page would make me completely happy (if there were a nice little icon to it at the top of the forum) and then the Greatest Page could be a nice, happy liberal news feed (as it is, evidently, intended to be).

This is a terrific idea.
One problem I have had with the whole "Unrecommend" thing is that it has taken away from people like me any indication of who the cool kids are.
It used to be that I could tell who the cool kids were simply by seeing what threads were being recommended.
Now, with this unrecommend thing, it has become very difficult to know who the DU Cool Kids are. I do so want -- NEED, really -- to be like them. ANd I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!
If we knew who the "good" OP's were, we would know for sure who the cool kids are.
And I'd like that -- It would make my life a WHOLE LOT easier.

6. I would like to volunteer to chair the committee that will decide |
|
the good versus the bad or ambiguous!
...as I hear the faint words in the background, "like hell you will!"
