Nightly News on Networks Totally Predictable.....ABC,NBC,CBS
Here's the Network Formula.. just like baking a cake.. color between the lines and you too canbe just like Roger Ailes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Open with High interest topic..

2 Present a Highly Processed video from Afghanistan... or Iraq...or wherever the invasion of the day is occurring in the name of Big Oil....

3 Voice-Over Video Clips: Spin the latest Official White House Press Release...Defending the Surge..

4 Man on the Street interviews from different cities.. designed to show how "in-touch" their news operation is... pander to all parts of the U.S.

Commercial Break... Denture Powder.. ZeeBond, Viagra.. Ambien if your Rooster Crows... or call your doctor if your erection last more than four days.. ( ya.. you wish)

5 Present A "health" story about Vitamins or some beauty cure that makes no difference to anyone.. a totally useless waste of time and money...

6 Finish your nightly News Cast with a "Feel-good" story about some amputee who is sooo glad to be home from the war ...or some cancer victim who is sooo happy with our excellent health care system...because the neighbors chipped in for a (transplant) (therapy) (choose one) because no one can afford health care.. but everything is OK...

7 Say goodnight... we'll see you in the morning with Matt Lauer and Meridith... for more make-believe news coverage brought to you by Corporate America....

8 It doesn't matter if it is ABC, NBC or CBS... Cookie-Cutter Bullshit with no caloric value.

You are now an "Official News Producer"...!

3. TV News is just entertainment any more.

Somwhere in the realm of reality TV because it involves real people
with real names. But there's a lot of drama and a lot of scripting.

4. They don't make TV news like they used to. Transcript from broadcast 09/10/59
5:01 PM: newscasts opens with station identification, followed by weather from Herman the Crocidile, an early Jim Henson muppet.

5:09 PM: A young Dan Rather, festooned in glitter and confetti, reads from Dostoyevsky's Notes from the Underground.

5:13 PM: Walter Cronkite screams random stream of obscenities at a blank wall.

5:24 PM: go-go dancing.

5:29 PM: Early television reactor core melts down.

They just don't make TV news like they used to.

13. Oh you forgot something:
5:30 pm - station closedown, so that parents could put their children to bed.
8:00 pm - evening programming begins.
11:00 pm - station shuts down for the night.

Your typical UK TV schedule around 1950 basically consists of the following:

Daytime: alternating between test card and demonstration film.
3pm: typically childrens' programming until 6pm.
8pm: evening programming begins, usually with TV Newsreel.
11pm: Closedown - usually with the news in audio only.

Forget about channel choice, you had the BBC Television Service, and that's it. Until 1955, when Associated Rediffusion and ABC (later renamed ATV) hit the airwaves.

12. Instant recipe to improve the evening news in America:
Copy the BBC from the 1970's. Yep, that's right, the 1970s'. Nationwide.

For you Americans who never were exposed to the delight of BBC early evening news in this period, sorry guys you really missed out. Nationwide wasn't exactly hard hitting (stories about skateboarding ducks, snails drinking beer, men walking on eggshells) but the serious bits were good and there was THAT interview with Margaret Thatcher ... you wouldn't see anything like it on the evening news on the networks.

Ohh to get my hands on a major network... what changes I would make!

14. You forgot Fox News they are different. You are right on for CBS, NBC, and ABC.
An average sub intellect quasi neo-fascist hack of either gender. I watch Fox with the same fascination I used to listen to shortwave from Radio Havana, the Soviet Union, and North Korea. Even though the Soviet Union had nuclear weapons, paranoid leadership, and were totally out of touch with the real world. I consider Fox news more dangerous.

1. 20 minutes on how Democrats are spending your money, ruining the future, or cause for creating a tax revolt.

2. 10 minutes suggesting it is in the national interest of the more violent members of the audience to think about succession, tax revolt, committing terrorist acts against Gays, Physicians, Scientists, and LIBERALS.

3. Interspersed rants (some may or may not be actual psychological episodes) by borderline psychotics such as Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and Bill O'Reilly.

4. The balance of the time (I guess why they are fair and balanced) is devoted to the daily attack on Barack Obama.

I know I should not be watching this but it necessary to know what propaganda is consumed by neighbors (remember they surround us, how is that for Paranoia). I am only able to watch about 30 minutes before I become nauseous or suffer the effect of rising blood pressure.
