Chavez wants to take control of DU in Venezuela , remove Unrec feature

Venezuela (7/10/09) - President elect Hugo Chavez announced today plans to save the citizens from the American run corporation DemocraticUnderground and reverse policies he sees as harmful to the economy.
His demands include removing a feature known to users as 'unrec', shutting down forums he see as anti-state and propaganda filled, merging the area called the dungeon with general discussion, and other items laid out in his formal release.
Some users of the site cheered the decision and welcomed Chavez to the administration of the board, even it would only affect users in Venezuela. Said one user:
"See, he cares about his people, and why shouldn't he do this, the state owns the wires that carry the internet there. It is his duty to protect the citizens from inflammatory threads, posts, and mean spirited unrec's"

The board's owners could not be reached for comment.
