We love Obama, just not America... yet |
|
According to a new poll, while Obama is viewed positively in most of the world, global attitudes toward America have barely improved at all. Asked whether they have confidence in Barack Obama to "do the right thing regarding world affairs," for all nations (excluding the US) an average of . . . http://timesonline.typepad.com/comment/2009/07/with-obama-safely-in-the-hot-seat-americans-can-surely-look-forward-once-more-to-summer-holidays-abroad-without-subterfuge.html

1. Get a load of the replies from Captain America... |

"It still amazes me how all you other nations of the world are so soon to forget how America had stood up for your coward asses through out the 20th century. If not for America, you butts would be governed by Communists, Nazis, Imperilists, extremists.. etc... I think the USA should just become totally isolated from the world and let you morons take care of your selves. If you become some evil nation, then deal with you via the military. America is the only country int he world that can be totally self supporting.. we have more natural resources than any of you!!! Man, your hating us crap is getting old...wake up"

2. I love the Prez, too. Americans? Not so much. |
|
Also, if you have the stomach to read the comments left by the ugliest of our citizens on message boards all over the world (the Guardian, BBC, etc.), you will understand why people can't abide Americans. This is what they think most of us are like. The small minority of hideous, hateful, ignorant asshole Americans are representing all of us, and that's too damn bad.

8. i know, but really - it's a failure in perception... |
|
...expecially in europe. i'm in bbc "have your say" - yes, many ugly things from US, expecially on ME.
but me and many like me - in italy and europe - we just see with some envy and pride the fact that u were able to elect Obama, a young "black" President, head of your nation - while we go one with our zombies, leaders already dead (politically, vitally) years ago and still walking, and get too early old because of lack of vitality and initiative.
please tell between judgement and envy. because really - the new US turn is something we long for, in Europe. guaranteed.
