David Arquette to live in a box for hunger
NEW YORK — David Arquette is going to live in a box in New York City to raise money for the hungry.

The 37-year-old actor plans to stay in a Plexiglas box above the Madison Square Garden marquee on Tuesday and Wednesday to raise $250,000 for Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief charity. He'll stay in the box each day for about eight hours.

Donations can come on site or through text messages or a Facebook page set up by Mars Inc., the company that makes Snickers candy bars.

A Mars spokesman says Arquette will eat during his two-day stay in the plastic enclosure.

1. I guess that's... something.
But sixteen hours?

That's like saying "I'm going to rough it today by giving my butler the afternoon off."

Fight the good fight, Dave!

5. my impression of it is not about roughing it
but is more about being visible to raise awareness.

Hope he exceeds his $$ goal.

8. It seems to me that there are better ways to raise visibility
He's spending the equivalent of two short McDonald's shifts in a box.

21. Ok, you start the month long hunger strike and we'll all follow then.
Shit, enough people do nothing, and many more rich people do nothing than do something. Give some credit where it's due.

26. I'm happy to give him credit for sitting in a box for the length of one nurse's shift, in two parts.

4. If he can raise $250K
I don't care who sponsors him, or what he does in that box.

6. He and Courtney could probably shake that much out of their couch
It's a nice gesture, so far as it goes.

13. He should be forced to sit through all of his movies while he's doing it
That would be a real commitment.

19. Boo, I think David is a great character actor.
He does the same guy in a lot of things, but he always seems committed and having a good time.

28. Yeah, but on balance, Dave's been in a much higher percentage of stinkers
Mike's also been in approximately seventeen thousand films over a period of like twenty decades, so his chance of appearing in a turkey is much greater given the size of the sample!

14. All these cynical posts. I must say, the Arquette family
is extremely generous and socially conscious. They grew up under very modest circumstances. In particular, Patricia Arquette is an extremely compassionate person. I personally know that my statements are facts.

They should just be applauded.

20. Pathetic PR stunt
What an ass. The ultra wealthy are hanging out in a box for a couple hours. When the excessive hoarding of money by wealthy elitists is the problem.
