How to improve health insurance AND achieve term limits...... |
|
Eliminate the health insurance program for Congressmen and Senators.
Let them try to negotiate with their former employers to retain their previous health insurance coverage, or let them use COBRA for 18 months to "tide them over" until they can purchase health insurance coverage
If they have "pre-existing condition" problems, that's too bad. They will feel our pain.
If they opt not to purchase health insurance because they can't afford to, that's irresponsible. Every time they are sick, they'll just have to go to the Emergency Room for care, and the rest of us will wind up footing the bill for them.
If they don't purchase health insurance but plan to pay for procedures and prescriptions out-of-pocket, let them pay the non-negotiated price for same. My hat's off to them--they must be REALLY wealthy.
And if, under those circumstances, our lawmakers STILL refuse to make health care available to all our citizens, then they'll probably opt for self-imposed term limits, since they'll have to find a REAL job which provides health insurance, and we the citizens will have an opportunity to send someone else to Washington who can get the job done for the folks back home.
