"Your politics are some of the meanest politics I have ever heard"
http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/newt-gingrich-gets-slapped-fisherman-wa

From C&L:

Newt Gingrich gets slapped by fisherman: "The water we are fishing in right now will be destroyed by his policies."
By John Amato Saturday Jul 11, 2009 11:00am
Newt Gingrich tried to take a page out of Sarah Palin's playbook and took to the waters for a photo-op.
However, a fisherman ripped him.

The House speaker went down to a New Hampshire river yesterday with a horde of reporters in tow some say to test the waters for a possible presidential bid to chat up some anglers.
But Gingrich had hardly waved hello when a feisty fisherman named Tim Kipp ruined the Republican's photo opportunity.
"Your politics are some of the meanest politics I have ever heard," Kipp shouted as he stood waist-deep in the Androscoggin River. "You make Calvin Coolidge look like a liberal."

Gingrich appeared stunned, but recovered slightly and told Kipp: "Despite our political differences, good luck today."
But Kipp was just warming up.
"This guy is the most meanspirited, vicious politician we have seen in a long, long time," Kipp told the reporters.

"The water we are fishing in right now will be destroyed by his policies."

Gingrich later tried to shrug off the encounter with Kipp, a high school teacher from Brattleboro, Vt.
Yet the outing wasn't a total bust. Gingrich realized his dream of seeing a few moose.

Wow, Kipp understands the policies that Newt holds near and dear to his heart. I wonder if Newt was walking around with a fishing rod in his hand?

28. It would be remarkable if Newton were so clueless as to think...
he might get the GOP presidential nomination in 2012. Surely he realizes he has the charm of a rattlesnake, and is just going for publicity to bolster his brand as an entrepreneur of conservatism and gimcrack "big ideas."

...a lov-er-ly little town right on the Connecticut River, next to NH. They complained officially about Bush in 2005 I think.

I saw a painting I wanted to buy there last August...but the gallery wasn't open when I passed through and I can't seem to get ahold of them....damnit!

Public nudity is OK in Brattleboro!

9. Good for Mr. Kipp!
But the Republican party has always been mean. It's been mean since way before Calvin Coolidge. The people who called themselves Republicans before Bush took his downward plunge, people who were essentially kind hearted and reasonable didn't know whose disgusting umbrella they were sheltering under until all the corruption, greed, hypocrisy, and just plain meanness became well and truly obvious. And before the greed hit their own wallets and pocketbooks.

11. I'm glad to see people speaking truth to power on Gingrich's atrocious policies,
that "Contract" was on America, not for it.

If Gingrich really gave a shit about the people, he would have held up the contract he swore to defend when he took his oath of office, by promoting the general welfare as per the Preamble to the Constitution, instead of promoting a short sighted, B.S. self-serving political "contract" as his guide.

Thanks for the thread, unapatriciated.

I cannot find a "New Hampshire" river anywhere in the USA. The Connecticut River separates Vt from NH and is where Brattleboro VT sits.

So as far as the article is conserned....Newty is NOT the speaker of the House....or at least the DISGRACED FORMER House Speaker at best.....and he either went to the Connecticut River, or a river that doesn't exist.

And it happened in 1995.

Top Notch reporting!
