The conservative hiker, a fable.
A man was walking down a trail. He had been lost for a long time but he did not know it because he spent more time looking back the way he had came and paid little attention to the landmarks as he passed them.

After some time he met another man who asked him why he was so far out of town this late in the day with no supplies or camping gear. He didn't like the looks of his long hair and replied that the other man should mind his own damn business and continued on down the trail now more determined than ever to reach his destination on the path he was on.

After it got dark he came on a campsite where two women were sitting before a campfire. He walked into the campsite and asked one of the women how much further it was to his destination. She said "You are totally turned around, you must have taken a wrong turn at least 12 miles back. I don't see why you would just keep going when it is clear you are lost."

He said "You must be a liberal."

She said "what?"

He said "You must be to tell a conservative hiker as talented as me that I am on the wrong track!"

She said "No, you are 12 miles past where you should have turned off."

He said "I won't stand here and let a dirty liberal tell me I'm on the wrong track" and took off in the direction he had been going.

Soon after that he fell down an embankment and was badly injured. As he lay there his last thoughts before passing out were to wonder why partisan politics had not gotten him to his destination.

He woke up in the hospital and asked the nurse how he had gotten there. She said that a hiker had alerted the rangers that you were lost and a camper had shown them where you had fallen"

He said "Damn, I would have been there by now if hippies and liberals and the government would just mind their own business"!

Felt I had to post some original content for my two thousandth post and the approximate two year anniversary of coming here the first time. Thanks DU.

1. You forgot that
"socialistic" team of rescuers that most likely air lifted him out and took him to the hospital.
:sarcasm:

2. I just realized
This fable has no moral and is more an allegory.

3. something else I wrote.
AC was a carpenter who worked everyday
But wall street decided he didn't need all that pay.
He showed up at work like he did all the time.
But the boss laid him off now he hasn't a dime.
He looks for more work to pay his for his bills.
But there's none to be had and he's about had his fill.
He looks all around and says "who made this trouble?"
" I used to do well but twas only a bubble"
He puzzled and puzzled till he was worn out
and then with all the sudden he let out a shout
I know who it was who screwed others and me
It was that guy who was on my TV
That super weird guy with brains that were mush
That guy that was president, George Walker Bush.
He was the one made the markets go mad
and ruin any future that most of us had.
Sometime I wonder if he feels any guilt.
for all of the American futures he's kilt.
But all of this blame and anger's no good
cause I'm still not cutting and hammering wood.
But things will get better I certain they will.
cause there's a new bunch up on capital hill.
And a man in the whitehouse, a man of good cheer
who'll turn it around and do it this year.
and to all of those who badly want him to fail.
I have one suggestion, you can kisseth my tail.

I didn't think it was worth it's own OP so I thought I would just leave it here.
