No one else did.

Boy after she did that the media and the Rethugs went bonkers too. As did dome DUers who had it in for her. All on the word of Rethugs like Cheney who were saying she new more and didn't do anything. Do a quick DU search over the past few months and take note who these DUers were who jumped all over that anti-Pelosi Rethug inspired bandwagon. Its an eye opener. Good for future reference.

2. Dome DUers attacked me for stating that
I trust Pelosi more than the CIA.
I am convinced that there are more than a few Rushican trollers who are here to attack Dems.

8. When did she go public with the statement that they lied?
Was that when she found out they lied? Or only after she was accused, and had to publicly blame a third party? What action has she taken to prosecute those responsible?

I ask these questions because it gets to the heart of whether she was willing to accept their lies until it threatened her reelection, or whether she felt it was a crime they needed to be held accountable for. If she was enabling them to continue lying - covering for them - I still hold her responsible.

10. What I found was that a lot of people here
were against the votes she made long before she said "ohhhh, I voted that way because I was misled."

I always find it curious when folks here understand what's going on, while our lawmakers play dumb and happen to vote the way that helps their reelection. A goodly number of us figured out folks were being tortured, for example, based on hidden clues like news reports that people were being tortured. And then, well, congress was SHOCKED that nobody told them. And they continued to vote to fund it. And then didn't hold any of the policy makers or their briefers responsible.

Any Dem who was smart enough to prevent happening to them what happened to this Dem senator is alright with me.

McCain campaigning for Georgia Senator whose smear tactics he once decried

From the Center for American Progress, this is worth passing along:

RADICAL RIGHT -- McCAIN TO CAMPAIGN FOR CHAMBLISS AFTER DECRYING HIS SMEAR TACTICS: Last week Sen. Saxby Chambliss's (R-GA) campaign announced that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) would be campaigning for Chambliss in Georgia's runoff senate election. McCain's involvement is surprising given his previous denouncement of Chambliss's campaign tactics. In 2002, Chambliss ran against former senator Max Cleland, who was lost three limbs in Vietnam. During the race, Chambliss released an ad that portrayed the war veteran as lacking the "courage" to confront terrorism. The ad juxtaposed images of both Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein to Cleland's voting record in the Senate. Asked his opinion of the ad, McCain said, "I'd never seen anything like that ad. Putting pictures of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden next to the picture of a man who left three limbs on the battlefield -- it's worse than disgraceful. It's reprehensible." Tomorrow, however, McCain will campaign and fundraise for Chambliss, who is now running against another Vietnam veteran, Jim Martin.

The future of our country as we know it depended upon not letting happen to them what happened to Max Cleland.

I don't blame any Dems for how they voted during the Bush years. I blame the pig Republicans who had no problem using these kind of un-American tactics against Dems.

I am very happy that many other Dems were smart enough not to let themselves get caught in the trap of voting on issues their vote would have changed nothing but would have ended up putting a Rethug in their seat.

The Rethugs on the other hand are not so happy now. But fuck them anyway.

12. I understand the stragegy you (and they) are promoting.
I don't agree with it, but I understand it. I believe that what you described was the real reason for the votes that were made (along with protecting corporate interests), and "but the CIA LIED to us - we had no idea torture was going on!" was the political cover they used, but not the real reason for their votes.

So I'm not going to shed any tears over Pelosi's part in this. I know what her votes supported, she knows what her votes supported. She didn't need secret CIA briefings of any type to recognize that. The one good thing that could come of it is if she now called for the prosecution of those responsible, instead of taking it off the table. But I suspect if prosecutions happen it will be in spite of her, not because of her.

It's sad how many DUers seem to fall for every BS rightwing talking point, so long as it helps them with the old axe-grinding.
