McCain's asinine responses on Meet the Press concerning investigations into the CIA and torture
Today on Meet the Press, David Gregory asked John McCain whether or not there's necessity in pursuing Justice Department investigations into the CIA's role in, and the Bush administration's authorization/order of, torture methods during the Bush-Cheney 'war on terror' years.

McCain's moronic response was simply that pursuing the matter would give terrorists "more tools" to use against the United States. He blathered that (in his opinion) the decision to release more photographs would incite further aggression against America from terrorists. He conveniently omitted the logic that not releasing them may project the message of a cover-up and a dismissal of accountability for our own egregiously inhuman crimes -- which, arguably, may incite said terrorists significantly more.

McCain then posed a rhetorical statement to Gregory in which he asked what possible gain could come from pursuing accountability for the alleged torture crimes and the ensuing cover-up campaign. At this point, I so wished someone had been there to abruptly slap the senator, while replying: "The gain of accountability would be the deterrent value, Senator, THE DETERRENT VALUE!!!" Someone should explain to McCain that an imposition of appropriate criminal penalties may be the most effective disincentive for future administrations who might otherwise be inclined to commit the same sort of unconscionable deeds with impunity. For that matter, criminal sanction may be the only response to keep such violative excessive presidential aggression from happening again. But David Gregory, naturally, didn't utter a word about establishing a deterrent, allowing McCain's ignorant assertions to stand (as usual).

bother to ask McCain if he has yet to share his info on how to get bin Laden? I remember several times during the campaign Johnny Mac would trumpet, "I know how to get bin Laden!"

DO tell, John, do tell.

4. David Gregory and his NBC colleagues were, of course, major cheerleaders for the Iraq invasion...
as well as all that it entailed. NBC's parent company, General Electric, is a huge defense contractor who reaps copious profits during wartime. Sickening, indeed.
