Would this make you happy?
If Skinner announced today that they have decided to go back to the old recommendation for greatest threads?

Why would that make you happy?

1. My happiness doesn't depend on the DU Admins' decisions.
Nor does my sense of validation hinge on other DUers reactions (rec, un-rec, views, etc.) to my OPs. :hi:

3. My...you do seem unhappy here.
There doesn't appear to be anything at DU of which you approve.

Hmm...

7. The unrec does make the Home Page far more interesting. I never
read it much before. Very enjoyable, especially if you don't have time to come to the discussion board.

8. As long as I can still ridicule and mock sycophants, whiners and crybabies, I'm happy.

9. Yes. But is my happiness the issue?
Maybe too many electrons have been wasted about this already, but I simply don't think that the new feature contributes to quality writing or a robust progressive community.

10. It definitely does not contribute to quality writing.
It turns the Greatest Page into a happy, liberal news feed.

And that's fine, but I always thought DU was a "discussion" forum.

12. The forum is exactly that. The Greatest Page
lists some of the threads in the forum, based on member responses. I don't ever go there. My home here is the Latest page.

11. I think it might create more responses, rather than less...
So there is not censorship but the opposite. Where many people might not post on a cheerleading post or some emotional issue in the past, they may now do so. These posts will get more attention, not less, as some are suggesting.

13. I could care less either way......
I rarely ever used the old rec function, I will probably never if not rarely use the unrec function.
