are doing just that; you're telling me I'm wrong wrong wrong
when in FACT my hypothesis has only begun to be tested...

Which does NOT necessarily mean that you are anti-gay; it may
mean that you are very pro-unrec, or it could be that you're
just not in the mood to give a serious question serious
consideration today...

I am making an observation, and hypothesizing as to why it seems
(to me, anyway) that the character of the Greatest Page has
changed so much from, say, several weeks ago...

This is NOT an indictment of DU as largely homophobic; all it
takes is a small but diligent group of homophobes to search out
such threads and apply their new super-powers of recommend-negation
to effectively keep many LGBT posts off the Greatest Page... which is
a lot like censorship, in that it limits exposure to these posts to
a considerable degree...

ANY fringe group will suffer similarly under such a system...

Personally, I simply found the old way of doing things much more, oh,
I don't know... what's the word I'm looking for?

Oh yes... democratic.

22. A hypothesis is an educated, testable guess, not something you pull out of the air. The answer is

obvious, as I showed in #57 at the link in your OP.

The thread you link to in OP, and its topic, cannot be considered an experiment of any kind because you failed to follow the scientific process, which requires logic, preliminary research, and the ability to realize, after doing a tiny bit of research that the answer is crystal clear, EVEN IF IT CONFLICTS WITH YOUR PERSONAL BELIEFS.

5. Your experiment is poorly designed

1. The premise of your original post, as I understand it, is essentially that GLBT threads are being disadvantaged by the new un-rec system.

2. You started a thread, presumably with the goal of stimulating either recs or unrecs, as a way of testing your hypothesis.

The problem will come with analyzing the results:

a. If you get many recs, presumably this will confirm your hypothesis (DUers will rec your thread because they agree with your hypothesis, or want to support your cause).

b. If you get many unrecs, presumably this will also confirm your hypothesis (DUers will unrec your threads because they want to disadvantage your cause).

You've designed an experiment with no possible outcome that would disprove your hypothesis.

14. Your threads aren't recommended because they're weak and inaccurate.

You misrepresent the status of the Greatest Page and its content.

You do a poor job of presenting the arguments you make.

You purposely offend and then take umbrage at those who think your rant is less than worthy of recommending.

Others who start GLBT topics don't have these problems because they're not you and they don't make the mistakes you make.

17. Harsh, but your point makes sense.

I can't say much, I too tend to be harsh and often have no qualms being so.

Usually being harsh about things instead of being harsh at people directly, with only one or two exceptions if I get angry enough. (e.g. I'll vehemently badmouth a car and let others call me a, what was it, "douse bag"? I usually douse chicken in my "Shake'n'Bake" bag packets, but whatever... if it makes them feel better, more power to them...
