Will government health plans cover HIV/AIDS patients and other "morally objectionable" things? |
|
Inspired by a previous post about some Democrats in the House talking about refusing to vote for a plan that covers abortion, it got me wondering about whether or not the topic of coverage of HIV/AIDS patients has come up yet and how that is (likely) to be handled? Do private plans help cover HIV/AIDS patients? I just kind of wonder because I have the sinking feeling that as health care plans are negotiated that a lot of health-related issues are going to get brought up that we have seen become controversial over the years (because of the fundies, of course). HPV Vaccines? Birth Control? Anybody have any thoughts how Congress is going to "suss" everything out? With the debate over covering abortion, I have a feeling that we're going to be in for a bumpy ride when it comes to these issues.

throw out.
It is none of their damn business if a woman wants the day after pill, it is none of their business if someone is needs to be prescribed medication for HIV/AIDS patients. And the reality is that there are many heterosexual people living with the disiese too.
Will they venture into pre-existing conditions too? If they do then why bother? The current insurance companies do that just fine.

Once you start trampling on people's rights in the name of religion, where does it end? First women, then homosexuals, then what? Blacks? Non-Aryans?

And folks might want to be careful how riled up they get over 19 house members because this is actually an argument against single payer and the public option - which I pointed out the last time that other thread was posted a couple of days ago.

6. The more it covers, the less it costs. |

The question should become a question of how much do we want to spend in order to control doctors from doing what they think is best for the patient.
