I suspect the RW radio shows.

Here's the deal.
I want some construction work done. Contacted my neighbor and he comes over. We start talking about the job and expense then he blurts out to get it done, "...before Obama takes all our money".

What is so bizarre is that he claims very little income and does mostly cash jobs so I was wondering how the tax man could even touch his income?
What is he worried about??

In order to "keep the peace" I moved past the comment quickly but it struck me and I am willing to wager there are many like him who work cash jobs, claim little, in other words they are tax cheats.
He does listen to Savage, Limbaugh, etc...and bitches about the "gubmmit" whenever he can.
He also hires day labor off of the street corners and I am sure he wants to, at the same time, "seal the border" based on some of the racist talk I've heard.

Otherwise he is a nice guy.
I kid you not.
He is not just a full blown dumb ass. Which makes it difficult to understand how he got this way.
He is half Mexican and half white. I know another guy with this racial background and he too cannot resist talking shit about Mexicans.

What the hell?

The first thing you have to understand is THESE PEOPLE DO NOT THINK LIKE US. You cannot use reason or logic with them because that's not their operating system. They do not see the contradictions. They just don't see it. They operate on emotion and perception, not on reality.

A friend read it recently on my suggestion and she said for the first time in 35 years, she has some understanding of her RW racist father. She no longer tries to convince him of the error of his ways because he's beyond any kind of rational discourse.

This is why I get so frustrated with the whole "bipartisan" bullshit. It is NEVER going to work. NEVER. Obama and the Dems need to just steamroller through as much as they can because the pukes are NEVER gonna cooperate. It's not in their OS.

4. oh, there's lots of folks like this. they talk a lot about the government taking all their money

or such, when they either don't pay taxes, or in some way benefit from the tax system as it is.... like, maybe they get something like my sister and brother in law who get help for their daughter like vision coach or whatever they are, an aid at school, braces for krystie's legs.... they like to talk about how all 'those people' are taking all our tax money... welfare queens and the like who just sit around and live off of OUR money..... you should hear the things she says about the people who come into her office (she works for the IRS).... she was so not happy with that tax rebate checks and all the people who would come into the office to get that money.... people who don't even PAY taxes!!

i did try to explain to her the purpose of the tax rebates, but she wasn't listening. There are just so many people out there who are just trying to take from us. don't get me started on how she thinks the illegal aliens are just coming here to live on welfare.... on our dime. uggh. try explaining to them about how you have to be a resident to get any sort of assistance. i would know.... i have been on assistance... and it is no picnic. but somehow i am different. no matter what you say, they are convinced that people are just coming here to sit around and live off welfare. at the same time, they complain how all the illegals are taking all the jobs, and making fun of the car full of them headed out to work in the fields. so which is it!! are they just sitting around living off welfare or stealing all the jobs??? uggh.

6. I think part of it is a kind of social climbing...

...to "prove" they're fully assimilated, 100% "Real Americans", not like that rif-raff that's still noticably "ethnic".

And sometimes it's temporary -- my sister's brother in law spent a few years pronouncing his name as "MARtin-ez" rather than "MarTI-nez" to separate himself (3rd or 4th generation Puerto Rican/Italian background) from newer PR and other latino immigrants. He's still conservative, but he doesn't bother with that bit anymore.
