1. He's a big fan of the zero-sum game, apparently
Even if his statement were correct, does it bother him that Repubs have been "empathizing" with corporations for decades, resulting in "prejudice" against individuals?

4. They hate empathy
Because they don't have the character required for it.

Republicans are using it as a trigger word for their own kind at this point. And all the racist crap that comes out of freeper-land is showing what they are really about.

And a white hood.

Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 10:02 AM by Kalyke
how is he electable?

I can have empathy (say, for the Palestinians) without thinking that all Jewish Israelis are guilty of some sin.

Gee, maybe Sessions should seek to venture into the gray every once in a while instead of always defining everything as either "black" or "white."

7. So empathy for the Holocaust victims means we are prejudiced against Nazis?
Okay I'll buy that

What a mindless, thoughtless statement that was. Hopefully it will stick to him like superglue, since they are beating up on Sotomayor for the Wise Latina comment

You know, if you were translate that middle-name of his from French to Arabic, I believe it would be "Hussein"

You're just scared that your white, male power monopoly is in jeopardy.

Sorry about the prejudiced post, fellow DUers!

10. He is speaking to his supporters
He is exactly what they want. They don't want anyone who might appear more intelligent than them.

Just watched a piece of Horrin ...praisin her cause she's done so well when her true place is as a domestic servant. Watta guy! :sarcasm:

12. If the Republicans displayed 'empathy'...
that would mean they decided to stop being assholes, and that is never going to happen. Their entire premise is telling themselves its okay to be bigoted, homophobic, devoid-of-compassion degenerates, and that people who do otherwise are somehow ruining America.

13. So he's an equal opportunity hater?
By that logic, he has empathy for NO ONE.

I think that makes him a clinical sociopath.

14. in that case, will he admit the same about being Christian?
and if so, since he admits prejudice toward Christianity, how about acknowledging the discrimination to non-Christians

16. I fail to see the logic of that statement.
It's like saying, "I really like rib-eye steak, so that means I must dislike sirloin."

It's much more effective to use their actual words, instead of a paraphrase.

20. "Boy"
Jeff Sessions once called a grown man (former assistant U.S. Attorney, Thomas Figures) "Boy".

If Mr. Sessions had an ounce of empathy he would have addressed Mr. Figures with respect, but he didn't. Sessions was a bigot and to this day, he is still a bigot.

22. In all fairness to Sessions, it's certainly proven true in his case
His career and track record has shown him display so much empathy for white supremacists and bigots that he's consistently shown prejudice against anyone who isn't white
